Don’t Lose Heart

Don’t lose a soft, gentle heart. It is easy to be angry, easy to feel what everyone else is feeling. It’s good to understand our emotions, and yet be ultimately influenced by the Spirit of God.

Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

What we do or don’t do is the same type of consideration as what we might do for recreation or work. Instead, not losing heart is a state of being that is resilient even the hardest of times.

We are reassured by God’s love for us. We experience this through the Holy Spirit as a coworker and helper. We go to God in prayer opening our spirit to synchronize our heart and perspective through surrender and understanding.

John 14:1 Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.

We put our trust and belief in God’s person rather than our own power. This doesn’t mean we are not empowered people persevering to reach our goals. It does mean that even if those goals don’t get reached, our identity and purpose in a relationship with God never changes. There is a peace that remains steady.

Resting in Christ is sharing in his nature, not being dependent on a certain outcome. Nor is our security based by how much money or people around us. Not losing heart means that our trust, hope, and faith go beyond circumstances, having peace in our relationship with God and ourselves no matter the struggle.

Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Jesus’s love is there to rescue us, reassure us, and give us life through the living word and Spirit. We experience this when we share our lives with God. Sometimes it’s easy to lose heart in the people around us, our leaders, even ourselves. God never fails though. Where people fail, God won’t. He loves each person unconditionally and always provides the best for his children. Spending time with Jesus creates a light heart. Letting Jesus love us and encourage us through spirit filled prayer and scripture will renew the heart.
